59th Grammy Awards Fashion Review: Shun Picks Her Favorite Look; Giveaway Winner Announced!

Kimberly Williams

The 2017 Grammy Awards were held Sunday, February 12th in Los Angeles, CA at the Staples Center and per usual the fashion didn’t disappoint! As the award show is filmed on the West Coast and started around 5:30 PST, the fashion picks were quickly determined early into the start of the red carpet. With any award show there is always controversy and this one was no different. Our very own royalty Beyonce did a mini-Lemonade concert for ten minutes, far surpassing the normal 3-5 minute performances granted to any performing artist.

Her baby girl Blue Ivy watched in awe from the audience with proud papa and husband, Jay-Z. Her custom pink Gucci suit paid homage to the legendary Prince. The ruffle detail and glitter cross body purse deemed her look a Shun Melson favorite!

Let’s get into the rest of our 2017 Grammy favorites

Winning her first-ever Grammy award for best R & B performance/”Cranes In The Sky” and also shining in Gold Metallic Gucci, Solange Knowles joins her niece Blue Ivy on our best-dressed list. The peplum detail and thigh-high open split exposed one of her long, toned legs. Knowles completed the look with a clear open-toed high-heel sandal.

Since #FASHUNforAll is one of our consistent mantra’s, plus-sized beauty and international superstar Adele wowed us in a Green Givenchy full length dress. The checkered, asymmetrical detail and organized beading allowed this multi-Grammy award winning songstress to steal the show. Her red carpet hair was impeccable in a loose chignon however during her Grammy acceptance speech her coif was sweeped into a high-bun. Her consistent ability to dress her body type while looking radiant makes her even more of a winner. We also adore the fact that a couture designer such as Givenchy would step out of the box and design a red carpet dress in double digit sizes.

Adele, we are still waiting for your collection with Burberry! We too need accessible couture in extended sizes! Read about the possible collaboration here.

Last look of the evening that really captivated the team’s attention (and my personal favorite) was Rihanna’s two-piece ensemble from Armani Prive. The orange haltered & sparkly bralette blessed us with a bit of RiRi’s underboob as well as full view of her fantastic tribal tattoo that sits under her bra line. The bottom piece, a black full taffeta skirt, was nothing short of dreamy. Jewels provided by Chopard completed her red carpet look.

In true Rihanna fashion, the starlet also flaunted a bedazzled-flask throughout the award show. She was spotted dancing, taking random sips, and rocking out during the “Tribe Called Quest” performance. Go RiRi…cause we know every night is your night!
